Weather in Mauritius in December

Is December a good time to visit Mauritius?

December is one of the most popular times to visit Mauritius and you will almost certainly have excellent weather all month. During December the days will be hot and balmy with one or two short showers each day, which will quickly blow over, and the evenings will remain warm. December is also the start of the Cyclone season, but you will be unlucky if one hits Mauritius while you are on holiday - the last major one to hit Mauritius was Cyclone Dina in January 2002. The coastal areas are generally hotter than the central mountainous part of the Island, and visitors can head for the hills if looking for some cooler weather. In general, the northern and western coasts of Mauritius gets less rain than the east.
