Fargo Airport

Hector International Airport (FAR)

Overview

Located three miles (5km) northwest of Fargo, Hector International Airport is the primary airport for North Dakota and northern Minnesota. A small airport, the most of the flights to Hector International Airport are short trips to nearby Minneapolis, however there are limited flights to Las Vegas, Chicago, Denver, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Orlando and Los Angeles.

The airport's facilities are basic, however there are customs facilities for international flights (though none are currently operating) and there are one gift shop and one restaurant in the terminal. Hector International Airport is loaded with small-town charm however, and the friendly staff members have even been known to hold a flight if the queues at security are slow.

Hector International Airport has the macabre distinction of being the intended destination of the flight that Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper were on when it crashed coming from Clearwater, Iowa in 1959.
